Racing Club is one of the most active cycle clubs in
south yorkshire. This south yorkshire cycle club has
two sections in doncaster and rotherham.
The
Tom Simpson Memorial sponsored ride.
Sunday - 24th February. 2008.
This
years Memorial ride will be split into 4
or more groups of various abilities, with
a maximum of 25 riders per group. Riders
will get to choose a group which suits their
ability on the day, when signing on.
PLEASE NOTE
THIS IS NOT A RACE.
Each group will be called to assemble at
the starting point from the Harworth sports
pavilion car park after signing on at the
control point near the pavilion outside
the Mr Tom Museum.
Riders can choose from two distances of
100kms or 50kms.
Each group will leave Harworth and take
in Bawtry to Gringley on the Hill turning
left through to Misterton. PLEASE
MAKE SURE THAT YOU PAY AND SIGN ON FIRST
BEFOREHAND.
The first group of 25 elite/faster riders
will leave at 10.00 am, this group usually
completes the full distance of 100kms
in around 3 hours - (non-stop).
The second group of 25 riders for the
100kms ride will leave at 10.05 am taking
approximately 3 hours 20 minutes.
The third group of 25 riders for the
100kms will leave at 10.15 am. This group
will be stopping at Boothferry for a cafe
stop [ approximately 30 minutes stop ]
Riders will leave as a group from the
cafe to return to Harworth as a group.
The shorter ride of 50 kms will leave at 10.10
am [ course details below ]
ENTRY FEE: £5.00
PER RIDER.
The 50kms ride turns
at Misterton and heads towards Haxey and
though to Blaxton turning left at the island
back to Bawtry and Harworth.
The 100 kms route continues through Misterton
to Epworth and then onto Goole via Crowle
and Swinefleet.
THE THIRD GROUP FOR THE 100KMS RIDE FOLLOW
ON HERE THROUGH GOOLE TO BOOTHFERRY CAFE
FOR A 30 MINUTE STOP TO REFUEL.
From Goole the route follows on the A614
to Thorne, through to the Green Tree at
Hatfield then left to Blaxton, Bawtry and
Harworth.
Food and hot drinks will
be available at the Harworth Sports Pavilion
after the rides.
